Kulhudhuffushi Hospital: Patient going to be brought to Mal

H.Dh. Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital has said that a patient who was going to be brought to Malé City on emergency died due to the doctor’s negligence.

The 57-year-old Sameera Mohamed from Sh. Milandhoo died in H.Dh. Hanimaadhoo when she was brought to the airport island on the sea ambulance to be sent to Malé on emergency after suffering a heart-attack. She died inside the airport.

Managing Director of the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, Ibrahim Waheed told Sun Media today that the patient died after the Oxygen tank which was connected to her ran out.

“The Oxygen tank wasn’t replaced and it ran out. You can’t say anything other than from the doctor’s negligence.” Waheed said.

He said that every Oxygen tank has a meter to measure the capacity so one would know if it’s running low.

Waheed said that even if the Oxygen tank ran out, there are Oxygen tanks on board the sea ambulance to be used.

“From Hanimaadhoo Jetty to the Airport is five minutes to a person on foot; that close. The doctor knows it. Sea ambulance has Oxygen tanks.” Waheed said.

The doctor who is accused of being negligent is a Bangladeshi national. He has been working at Kulhudhuffushi Regional for a year.

The hospital said that the doctor has been suspended after the incident and the Health Ministry has ordered to send him to Malé for deportation.
