Government invites nominations for Rehendhi Award

The government has invited interested individuals to submit nominations for Rehendhi Award, given in recognition of women’s contributions to national and social development.

The deadline for submissions is 31 December 2015.

Individuals can put forward their own name as well as nominate other people.

The award was introduced in 2014. The first winners were Juveyria Wajedhee for her contributions to Maldivian cuisine, and Aminath Nasheedha for her efforts to promote bakery.

The 2015 winners were Fathimath Nahla, a renowned author; and Gameera Adam, for her contributions in the field of agriculture.

The award is presented on Women’s Day on 8 March every year.
