Maldivian High Commission in New Delhi has said that the Maldivian family that was in distress due to flooding in Chennai has been moved to safe ground.
The family was trapped in their apartment in Perumbakkam without electricity since yesterday.
The High Commission said yesterday that they were evacuated with the help of Chennai Police.
Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu is the worst affected city following torrential rain in southern India over the past three days.
Schools have been closed in Chennai, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur.
Indian government has warned that more rain can be expected over the next 24 hours.
