Remand has been extended by five days for Hamid Ismail, who is in police custody over the explosion on the president’s boat on 28 September 2015.
Spokesperson for Criminal Court Ahmed Mohamed Manik said the additional five days was given yesterday, following the expiry of the 15 days given earlier.
Criminal Court’s decision to grant remand of 15 days was appealed in High Court by Hamid. The lower court’s decision was upheld by High Court.
Hamid was arrested in Malaysia by Malaysian police and sent to Maldives, where he was arrested upon arrival at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) by Maldivian police.
His lawyer Husnu Suood says he was arrested on suspicion of issuing threats to President Abdulla Yameen via Viber.
