Aseel dismissed as HDC chairman

Mohamed Aseel Ahmed has been dismissed from the post of Chairman of Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

Aseel is among the suspects sought by police in relation to the explosion on the president’s boat on 28 September 2015.

Mohamed Nizar, president of Privatisation Board, said that Aseel was dismissed after seeking approval from the President’s Office.

Aseel also serves as Deputy Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Police have raided Aseel’s residence on two occasions and seized some items for the investigation.
