Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ordered to retract the announcement made by the Housing Ministry to rent land to run cafés and restaurants at the south-west Harbour and Alimas Carnival area in Malé City.
A statement from ACC today said that they investigated courses that allows for corruption in the announcement made by the Housing Ministry on 27 October to Ministry to rent land to run cafés and restaurants at the south-west Harbour and Alimas Carnival area.
The ACC statement said that the regulation from the Ministry is the land would be given to the winners of a draw.
But it is against the Law of Leasing Government Land according to the ACC.
“Although the fee for the land lent by the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has been set, the violation of Article 3-B of the Law of Leasing Government Land and Article 12 of the Ministry regulation made public on 15 July 2015 has been noted.” The ACC statement said.
The statement said that with the fee already set and leasing the land to the winners of a draw without a feasible study of the return is not the most beneficial to the state.
And so ACC has ordered to review the announcement made to rent land for cafés and restaurants.
