Lawyer Ali Nadheem has resigned from the legal team of the former Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb.
Nadheem has confirmed his resignation to Sun Media. As for the reason for his resignation, he said that it was because he cannot proceed in the current state of things.
Police has said that lawyer Nadheem attempted to pass a document unrelated to the case to the Adheeb. And so he has been denied any meeting with the former Vice President.
Police said that meetings with Adheeb has been temporarily been halted since the lawyer has violated Regulation 34-J formed under 17-C of the Police Law 2008/5.
Adheeb’s lawyer, Shameem said that the illegal document mentioned by the Police is the reply from MDP about Adheeb’s letter to them saying that the no-confidence vote against him at the Parliament was against the law.
“In response to the letter, MDP said that the vote was an illegal one and so MDP did not take part in the vote.” Shameem said.
Shameem said that there is no writing or word against the law in the letter.
Former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb was arrested and taken to Dhoonidhoo in suspicion of his involvement in the attack on the Presidential Launch in September.
