Police has said that the former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb’s lawyer attempted to share a document unrelated to the former Vice President’s case.
Lawyer Hussain Shameem from Adheeb’s legal team said that lawyer Ali Nadheem from the same team was denied a meeting with the former Vice President today. Police issued a statement regarding the issue saying that the lawyer’s meeting was denied after he attempted to smuggle a document unrelated to the case and that they are investigating it.
Police said that meetings with Adheeb has been temporarily been halted since the lawyer has violated Regulation 34-J formed under 17-C of the Police Law 2008/5.
The Police did not say what the unrelated document was that lawy Ali Nadheem attempted to smuggle. Although the Police said that a document on the views of MDP Parliamentary Group about the State of Emergency in the country and No-confidence vote against Adheeb was taken by the lawyer.
Head lawyer on Adheeb’s legal team, Hussain Shameem told Sun Media tonight that the Police have no authority to suspend or investigate the conduct of lawyers.
He said that he believes that the Police got confused. And said that the Police is now looking into it.
