Sri Lanka has said that the Avant Garde floating armoury boat that was captured, while attempting while carrying more weapons that permitted, is connected to the events that took place in the Maldives.
According to Sri Lanka’s Newsfirst media, Cabinet Spokesperson, Rajitha Senaratne said that the GPS of the vessel was switched off when it was passing through the Maldives and no vessel is permitted to switch off their GPS.
“Acts of conspiracy in the Maldives took place during this period. There is a connection between these two.” Mr. Rajitha Senaratne said.
It is believed that the “acts of conspiracy” described by Rajitha Senaratne is the attack on the Presidential Launch and the discovery of firearms from some locations in the Maldives.
He then continued to say that “the relevant authorities need to be informed before a vessel departs. They need to obtain permission.”
Sri Lanka has previous said that the weapons were found on the Avant Grade that was captured while attempting to enter the Sri Lankan border and the weapons that were found were unregistered weapons.
