The Criminal Court has extended the remand of Ahmed Ashraf, also known as Shumba Gong on the social media.
His remand was extended when he was taken to court this evening.
Police Media Offcial said that he was in Sri Lanka and brought to the Dhoonidhoo. And the cases against him are being investigated.
Ashraf was arrested in an operation conducted by Maldives Police in collaboration with Sri Lanka Police yesterday.
Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer said at the press conference that the eight people had been asked to return to Maldives, and warned that Interpol Red Notice would be issued if they fail to oblige.
Ahmed Ashraf is one of the eight people wanted for questioning in the investigation by the National Inquiry Commission.
Ashraf is best known for his social media activities to promote Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.
He has tweeted criticising the government many times following VP Adeeb’s arrest.
The eight people sought by the investigation, as announced yesterday, are:

- Mohamed Visham (Vish) Vaijeheyge, H.A. Muraidhoo
- Ahmed Faathih (Benjo), Raibageechaage, K. Dhiffushi
- Mohamed Aseel Ahmed, H. Aidha
- Ahmed Ashraf (Shumba Gong), Nailoanuge, Lh. Naifaru
- Hussain Sinaan, Vaijeheyge, H.A. Muraidhoo
- Ahmed Ishfaaq Ali, M Land of Garden
