Maldives Police Service has notified their officers that action would be taken against those who publish “political” posts on social media.
Reminding his fellow officers that it is forbidden for Police officers to take part in political activities in a letter sent to the departments of the Police signed by Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohamed says that action will be taken against officers who publish political posts on social media and participate in political activities.
“We inform the staff of this service that this command will continue to take steps against those who comment, share, “retweet” and “like” the political posts published on social media and those who publish such pictures on the social media.” The Police document said.
Regarding the document, the Police Information Officer, Ismail Ali said that the Police have always been following that regulation and it was reminded because such activities have been noted to be on the rise.
