Building searched in Mal

Police are searching a building in Mahchangolhi as part of their investigation of the 28 September explosion on presidential speedboat, Finifenmaa.

Police raided the building where Ma. Cocoa, Ma. Cocoage, and Ma. Cocoama are located at around 5:00 p.m.

The exact apartment being searched is unclear.

Sun reporter at the scene says there are four police vehicles in the area.

Yesterday, police and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) officers searched Golden Beam and Raufath, two houses in the same area, and found a pistol.

Several locations have been searched and arrests have been made in relation to the boat blast investigation.

Addressing the nation following the incident, President Abdulla Yameen said that explosive materials had been found in some places searched by police.

More suspected premises need to be searched to ensure public safety and security, the President said.
