Shameem: Adheeb is ready to respond in the Parliament

Lawyer Hussain Shameem representing the Vice President Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Gafoor has said that the Vice President is fully ready to respond in the Parliament.

Speaking at the press conference at Mookai Suites tonight, Lawyer Shameem said that the Vice President said that he has a lot of information regarding the matter.

“The Vice President says that he is ready to come to Malé, go to the Parliament, and answer fully.” Shameem said.

He said that the Vice President did not say whether he would be responding through a lawyer or not.

Shameem said that looking at the interviews to international media by the Foreign Minister, it is clear that the Vice President Adheeb was arrested unlawfully. And he said that so far no evidence produced against the Vice President and seeking evidence while keeping him in custody is not legally allowed.

Lawyer Shameem said that from the words of the Home Minister and Co-Chair of the Inquiry Commission, Umar Naseer, it is clear that the investigation is targeted on the Vice President.

He said that the political movement of the Vice President would begin tonight in and outside the Maldives the Vice President has given permission to his supporters.

Vice President Ahmed Adheeb was arrested upon suspicion of his involvement in the explosion on board the Presidential Launch on 28 September.
