AG: In detention, the Vice President doesn

Attorney General Mohamed Anil has said that when being arrested in Criminal Charges, the Vice President does not have any special privileges.

Speaking on TVM’s “Raaje Miadhu” (Maldives Today) program, Attorney General Anil said that when the Vice President or the President has been detained with criminal charges, they do not have any special privileges from anyone else.

“Must be treated equally as everyone else, because it’s a Vice President, a President, a minister, when being arrested in suspicions of criminal cases, being detained, when being investigated, there is no special privileges.” Attorney General Anil said.

While the Attorney General has said this, the Criminal Court has ordered that the Vice President Ahmed Adheeb be transferred to the block with the usual detainees and political detainees. And the Police have followed those orders.

Attorney General Anil said that the bomb explosion on board the Presidential Launch was the most dangerous and saddest event in recent history of the country and it was an act of terrorism. AG Anil said that all of those responsible for it has must be brought to justice for the sake of the future of the country.
