MNDF concludes Search and Rescue exercise

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has held a Search and Rescue exercise in collaboration with Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).

MNDF said that the purpose of the joint exercise by the governments of Maldives and Australia was to ensure safety and security for Maldives through naval and air surveillance.

The three-day exercise which began on Tuesday, 06 October 2015, was held at the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC).

Conducted under the Capability Partnership Program, it was participated by MNDF Coast Guard, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre, Civil Aviation Authority, and Maldives Airports Company.

The lectures were conducted by Senior Search and Rescue Officer of AMSA Cameron Heathwood.
