Judge Abdulla seeks five million in compensation

Chief Judge at the Criminal Court, Judge Abdulla Mohamed has submitted a case seeking MVR five million in compensation for his illegal arrest during the Presidency of Mohamed Nasheed.

The first hearing in the case against the state was scheduled for at 1:30 p.m. today at the Civil Court.

There have been no further details of the case.

Judge Abdulla was kept at K. Girifushi for 21 days after the Supreme Court ordered his release after the military arrested him on the order of the President at the time, Mohamed Nasheed.

President Nasheed is currently serving 13 years in prison or his involvement. And the Defense Minister at the time, Tholhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaanu is serving ten years in prison.
