MIRA to accept Rufiyaa except for Four Types of Payments

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has said that all payments to the state except tourism-related taxes will from now be accepted only in Maldivian Rufiya. MIRA's announcement came after the cabinet has decided to that all fees and payments to the government must be paid in Maldivian Rufiya.

According to a press statement released by the authority, they have discussed the matter with concerned authorities to finalize administrative matters to collect payments in rufiyaa.

MIRA has said that they are making efforts to amend some of the laws in order to accept all the payments in local currency.
