Businessmen Advise the Government on Tax Money

Some leading businessmen in the country has advised the government to use Tax Money in the right way. A taxation system is new to the country, and the government is trying to start taxation as soon as possible.

Previously most of the businessmen and the NGOs have opposed the idea. However now the leading NGOs like The Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) also has declared its support for the government’s economic reform program and the introduction of direct taxation.

In a press statement, MATI noted that the absence of a good taxation system in the country happened to be a serious problem faced by the development and economic growth. “The introduction of such a taxation system to the Maldives is needed long before,” MATI said in its statement.

When direct taxation is initiated that would increase state revenue and reduce government debts, and the private sector would grow, as a result of that new employments will be created, says the Association.
