The Civil Service Commission (CSC) issued a circular today saying that starting from today, the President’s Office has decided to stop the hiring for open positions in the Civil Service until the end of the year 2016 to reduce Government spending.
The CSC circular said that permission would be required from the Minister of Finance and Treasury and the Head of that particular Ministry before putting out the employment notice.
Finance Minister, Abdulla Jihad has said that when the budget was prepared, they had decided not to hire more people to the Civil Service positions this year.
While the expense of the Government has been growing each year more than the income, the biggest expense has been the salaries to the Government employees.
