Ministry of Education has called for the investigation of the incident and punishment of the group responsible for stabbing two students of Gn. Atoll Education Centre while they were on their way home after exams this morning.
The first ever statement by Education Ministry in relation such an incident states that such practices should not be tolerated in any disciplined society. They strongly condemned the attack.
“The Ministry calls on all relevant authorities to investigate this matter, produce those responsible in court, and punish them accordingly,” reads the statement signed by Director of Ministry of Education Abdullah Ibrahim.
The Ministry also called to avoid involving children in activities which are not suitable for them, and to refrain from all practices that may harm the dignity of children.
A masked group stabbed 15 and 16 year old children in Fuvahmulah this morning. The kids were on their way home from school.
An official from Fuvahmulah hospital said that the 15-year-old was stabbed on the head, and that he is now lying in the ward after treatment. The 16-year-old had serious wounds, resulting from stabs to a few places on the arm, back, head, and near the eye.
