Hajj Corporation: All Maldivian hajj pilgrims are safe

Hajj Corporation has confirmed that all Maldivians in Saudi Arabia for the hajj pilgrimage are safe and in good condition.

This comes after 310 people died and hundreds were injured in a stampede involving hajj pilgrims in Mina.

Hajj Corporation said that they have contacted all Maldivian hajj groups to check their situation.

“We have not received any information to indicate that any Maldivian has been hurt in Mina. We are also not informed of anyone going missing,” Managing Director of Hajj Corporation Yameen Idrees said, adding that all Maldivian pilgrims have been given the contact number for Hajj Corporation.

An official of Ministry of foreign Affairs said earlier, “We have been able to contact all hajj groups except Hajj Corporation. They have all confirmed that no pilgrims in their supervision were hurt in any way.”
