Boat that ran aground on reef in Meemu atoll sinks

A boat from Thaa Guraidhoo has sunk near a reef in Meemu atoll.

Police have confirmed the incident, and said that the boat in question, “Savaaree”, sank today after it ran aground on a reef in Meemu Atoll a few days ago.

Efforts were ongoing to refloat the boat when it sank, said police.
