Gayoom welcomes Umar Naseer back to PPM

Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has welcomed Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer following his decision to re-join the ruling party, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

Umar was expelled from PPM when he made defamatory allegations against the party after losing the Primary to President Abdulla Yameen, ahead of the 2013 Presidential Election.

President Yameen won the Primary with 63 percent of votes.

The Home Minister re-joined PPM on 2 September 2015.

Following Umar’s decision to become a member of PPM once again, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom said on Twitter:
