Member of former president Mohamed Nasheed’s legal team, Mahfooz Saeed, has been stabbed in Malé.

Police said that the incident was reported at 5:20 p.m., and Mahfooz has been taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Media Coordinator of IGMH Zeenath Ali Habeeb said that Mahfooz was first taken to the Emergency Room, and he had sustained a serious stab wound to the head.

He is now in the Operations Theatre and preparations are ongoing for a surgery, said Zeenath.

The case is under investigation by the Serious and Organised Crime Department of the police.
