Fishing boats notified to vacate area between Izzuddin Jetty and Local Market

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has notified fishing boats to vacate the area between Izzuddin Jetty and the eastern side of Local Market by Thursday, 10 September 2015.

This follows a decision to issue this space for business purposes.

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu said at a press conference yesterday that Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has designated part of the west harbour, to the left of the Local Market, for the boats that have been asked to move.

Jetties previously known as Jetty 1 and Jetty 2 are now part of Izzuddin Jetty, which was inaugurated at the end of last month.

Dr Muizzu said that following the recent change, Jetty 3 would be used by the police and Jetty 4 by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
