Police provide assistance in Gadhdhoo following sea swells

Police in Gaafu Dhaalu Gadhdhoo have provided assistance to protect people’s property from water, after the island was hit by sea swells.

The sea swells began yesterday afternoon and reached residential areas. Police worked with the people of the island to place sand bags to block the water.

Police also collected information on the extent of the damage in the island.

Gadhdhoo Council Vice President Mohamed Sujau said that the waves began coming in around 2:30 p.m. Monday, and covered an area of about 150 meters.

Four houses were affected by the salt water but without much damage, said Sujau.
