MWSC to establish public shower area at artificial beach

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has signed an agreement with Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) to establish a public shower area at artificial beach.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and Managing Director of MWSC Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Muizzu said that artificial beach is popular among the people of Malé, and should have showers and other facilities.

In addition to the shower facilities, the new project will also see the establishment of a mother care room, washroom for persons with disabilities, and male and female changing rooms.

Repair of benches and installation of lights at Artificial Beach area are also included in the project.

Fazul said that the project is expected to be completed within one month.

He said that the work will be carried out gratis, under MWSC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects.

Housing Ministry has also recently announced a project to construct a new artificial beach on the west side of Malé. This project has been awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
