The hard disk of the CCTV camera in former president Mohamed Nasheed’s wife’s house, M. Yaagoothuge, has been confiscated by the police.
Police spokesperson told Sun Online that the house was searched under a search warrant, following which the hard disk was confiscated at 4:15 a.m. Thursday.
He said that the search began at 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, to obtain evidence for the investigation of a case reported by Maldives Correctional Service.
The first search warrant expired at midnight, and a new search warrant was obtained to continue the search, he said.
Hassan Latheef’s lawyer, former Deputy Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem said that Maldives Correctional Service had made changes to the letter sent to Nasheed after making a photocopy.
“A number had been changed. The letter sent to Nasheed says 125. That’s the letter number. In the letter sent to the police by Correctional Service, a zero had been added after the 125. It says 1250,” he said.
