A large number of alcohol confiscated by the Police has been destroyed today

A large number of alcohol bottles, beer cans and a lot of the cataloged drugs under Police custody been destroyed.

A 1071 alcohol bottles, 602 beer cans, two jerry cans of alcohol and 37 tools used in drug abuse were destroyed today.

The alcohol was destroyed under the supervision of a committee. The committee the Chief Judge of the Criminal Court, Abdulla Mohamed, two members from independent institutes and a lawyer from the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office.

Three months ago, in May, Police destroyed alcohol of about MVR 4 million in street value. Police then said that alcohol would be destroyed every Saturday.

Police Media Official told Sun Media that the destroying of alcohol could not continue as mentioned before due to many reasons including the weather and members of the committee not attending.
