Juvenile Court has said that they don’t have any old, pending cases.
A high ranking official from the Juvenile Court told Sun Media that according to the Court Regulation 43-A, they have to schedule a complete hearing within three days from the time when a designated section receive a case. And if reasonable cause for delay occurs, it has to be rescheduled as soon as possible.
The official said that they have been implementing that rule since the law came into effect.
Noting that they are trying resolve the cases at the Juvenile Court, the official said that there are no cases that have been more than an year old.
And he said that there have been no complaints from anyone about a case being delayed or prolonged.
An open letter from the Supreme Court sent on 12 August ordered the lower courts to make arrangements so that old cases can be resolved within a month. And the Supreme Court also sent a letter to the Department of Judicial Administration to arrange things to make it possible.
