Two members appointed to CSC

Dr Ali Shameem and Zakariyya Hussain have been appointed as members of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

The two individuals were sworn-in in the presence of President Abdulla Yameen, at a ceremony at the President’s Office this morning. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef.

Yesterday, the parliament passed the appointment of Dr Ali Shameem as a member of CSC with 58 votes in favour, and Zakariyya Hussain with 57 votes in favour. The third nomination, Dr Abdulla Naseer, was rejected.

Zakariyya Hussain has previously served as a CSC member.

The parliament invited applications for the post of CSC member on 16 July 2015, following the resignation of its President Dr Mohamed Latheef, and the end of two members’ tenures, Ahmed Hassan Saeed and Khadheeja Adam.

Dr Mohamed Latheef has been appointed as the Chancellor of the Maldives National University.
