MVR 60,000 and USD 15,000 robbed from a shop in Gemanafushi

A shop at G. A. Gemanafushi was robbed last night where the robbers took MVR 60,000 and USD 15,000.

One of the shareholders of the Orchid Traders in Gemanafushi, Ish’haaq Ahmed said that it about 5:15 a.m. this morning when they realized the shop has been robbed after breaking the front door.

Police Media Official said that a man in the island has been arrested in suspicion of the robbery.

The Police Media Official also said that over MVR 58,000 were found during the search of the man’s house after he was arrested with a court order.

A man speaking from the island said that the man arrested in the case has a record for drugs and theft. And that the man was also recently involved in a theft from his father’s house.

In a seconded theft in the island last night, cooking appliances used in the cooking fish was stolen from the house, Miskiydhoshuge. Police said that the man they arrested is believed to be involved in both cases and the cooking appliances were also found in the man’s residence.

“…those things have now been returned to their owner.” The Police Media Official said.
