5 people arrested with alcohol

Five people were arrested from Addu City Hithadhoo along with three bottles that police suspect contain alcohol.

Police said that the five people arrested last Thursday include two 21 year-olds, a 29 year-old, a 16 year-old boy and a 15 year-old boy.

According to police, the five people were arrested from an abandoned house in Hithadhoo at around 3:00 pm in an operation conducted after police were tipped off they were producing alcohol.

Police said that the three bottles were found inside the house and that police had also found devices used to produce alcohol from inside the abandoned house.

Police have been granted a 7-day remand period for the five people from Hithadhoo Magistrate Court.
