“Moodhu Maa’kandu” Festival – a festival to provide information and raise awareness regarding marine resources in a happy, festive environment - kicked in Alif Alif Atoll Ukulhas on Saturday.
“Moodhu Maa’kandu” Festival is part of “Regenerative” Project conducted by International Union for Conservation of Maldives (IUCM) Marine Project.
IUCM has said that the purpose of the festival -- targeting students, teachers and parents in the atoll – was to provide a fun environment in which to raise awareness regarding marine resources and environment.
Those who organized the festival informed press that students from four schools in the atoll were participating in the event.
IUCM has said that students will be provided swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving classes, and will have the opportunity to participate in many other fun activities.
The organization has said that they will be holding such festivals in other islands, based on the success of the festival held in Ukulhas.
