MMC asks that it be made known fellow journalists are waiting for Rilwan

One year on from the day Minivan News journalist Ahmed Rilwan went missing, Maldives Media Council (MMC) has asked that media make it known that people were still waiting for news of him.

MMC released a circular in which it asked that Maldivian journalist express concern over the fact that nothing substantial had been found out around the circumstances in which he went missing, and supply information to make it clear fellow Maldivian journalists were waiting for news of him.

“We ask that all Maldivian media bodies express concern over this in news articles and programs that are released on August 8, Saturday,” read the circular.

Rilwan’s family, police and independent institutions have repeatedly searched for any clue into his whereabouts, all in vain. He was last sighted in Hulhumale’ Ferry Terminal located in Male’ on August 8.

He is assumed to have disappeared some time during the late hours of night near his Hulhumale’ apartment.
