Housing Ministry has taken over a large portion of services and places under the care of Addu City Council.
An official of the Housing Ministry told Sun Media that the places taken over by the Housing Ministry includes lands and parks under the Addu City Council.
The official said that the Ministry also over took the repairing of streets and ferry terminals, drainage systems on the roads, cleaning the gutters and pest control services.
The Ministry took over the services from the Addu City Council after a team from the Ministry held discussion with the Council.
The team that met with the Council includes, Deputy Minister, Hassan Ali, Abdulla Ziyad, Executive Coordinator, Amir Ali and three senior personnel from the Ministry’s Civil Service Staff.
The official from the Housing Ministry said that Addu City Council has been providing full cooperation in the matter.
“City Council is giving full support. Addu City Council has said a building to work from.” Official said.
The official from the Ministry said that while a branch of the Housing Ministry would be starting their services soon in Addu City, the employees of the Council in such departments would also be moved to the Housing Ministry.
