Repairs begin at Hilaaleege

MNDF has begun repairs at the designated residence for the Vice President, Hilaaleege.

Information Officer of MNDF, Major Adnaan Mohamed told Sun Media that the repairs at Hilaaleege are a routine repair.

“Under the usual routine, MNDF is working on the repairs at Hilaaleege.” Major Adnaan said.

Responding to a question from Sun Media regarding the rumors about President Abdulla Yamin moving to Hilaaleege, the Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali said that nothing regarding Presidents and Vice Presidents haven’t been shared yet.

“Nothing like that (about moving) has been shared with me. So I don’t know how to give any information regarding that.” Spokesperson Muaz said.

Hilaaleege has been vacant since the impeachment of the former Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed. The current Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb is living at his own residence.

Although Hilaaleege is the designated residence for the Vice President, the Vice President during the MDP rule, Dr. Mohamed Waheed resided at Hilaaleege even after he was President and remained there until the end of his term. Dr. Waheed is the first President to reside in Hilaaleege.
