25 Maldivian students have been placed in GCE O’ Level World Top Ten Awards 2014.
While four students have scored 100% marks to win the top spot in various subjects, four other students have been placed 2nd, 6th, 7th and 10th in various subjects. 6 students were placed 3rd and 9th while two students were placed 5th.
475 students were placed in GCE O’ Level Maldives Top Ten, 268 of whom studied in school in Male’.
207 students from schools in atolls were placed in GCE O’ Level Maldives Top Ten.
45 students won the top spot while 87 students won 2nd spot.
10 students won 3rd spot while 100 students won 4th spot.
34 students won 5th spot while 62 students won 6th spot.
10 students won 7th spot while 51 students won 8th spot. 52 students came 9th and 24 students came 10th.
The 45 students who came 1st scored A grades in 8 subjects. They were awarded presidential scholarships.
Speaking during the ceremony, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham said that the whole country was proud of the students who won the awards.
She said that the purpose of the government was to give educational opportunities to everyone including those who were not the most academically gifted.
“Over 1,000 students have participated in vocational training programs targeted towards such students. This makes up for over 20% of students,” she said.

Two Maldivian students were placed in World Top Ten in Business Studies. This includes Ahmadhiyya International School student – S.Hithadhoo, Iris – Sara Ibrahim – who won 1st place; and Giyasudheen School student – R.Rasgetheemu, Rasveli – Aishath Malha – who won 6th place.
S.Feydhoo School student, S.Feydhoo, Dhunnikage, Fathimath Siba Saeed won 1st place in Economics and 7th place in Travel and Tourism.
Four Maldivian students were placed in World Top Ten in Travel and Tourism.

V.Keyodhoo School student - V.Keyodhoo Nightrose – Fathimath Rifqa was placed 5th in World Top Ten in Commerce; while S.Atoll Madharusa student – S.Hulhudhoo, Aahiya – Aminath Abdulla was placed 10th in World Top Ten in Commerce.
Iskandhar School student – S.Hithadhoo, Daisy Corner – Ismail Abshar Mohamed was placed 5th in World Top Ten in Principles of Accounting, and 2nd in Computer Science.
Iskandhar School student – M.Pareenuge – Aminath Ibaa Mahureen was placed 1st in World
Top Ten in Computer Science.
Five Maldivian students won places in World Top Ten in Travel and Tourism.

Two Maldivian students won 9th place in World Top Ten in Biology. They are; Iskandhar School student – G.Maila – Mohamd Hafeez Hassan; and Dharumavantha School student – Ma.Boaganvilla – Haavey Hassan.
Ahmadhiyya International School student – R.Innamaadhoo, Naares – Ahmed Aiman; and Indian, Imadhudheen School student – Maariya Sood won 2nd place in World Top Ten in Physics.
Indian, Imadhudheen School student Mariyam Sood won 3rd place in World Top Ten in Chemistry while another Indian student from Billabong High School – Bahaathi Ganishtha won 7th place in World Top Ten in Chemistry.
