Issue of MNU spending MVR 2 mn without Tender Evaluation Board approval comes to light

Audit Report reveals that Maldives National University spent over MVR 2 million in 2012 without approval of Tender Evaluation Board.

MNU Audit Report 2012 released by Auditor General Hassan Ziyaath notes that if items that need to be purchased at any one time is valued at over MVR 1.5 million, the party that will be used to purchase the items needs to be chosen after sending proposals to Tender Evaluation Board first.

According to the Audit Report, MNU had violated the set procedure and spent MVR 2,544,955 in 2012.

Auditors also noted that MNU had not received MVR 4,397,395 owing in student fees up to December, 2012.

Audit Report says that the amount includes fees that that were 2 years overdue, MNU had not

taken sufficient steps to get the money.

Changes had been brought recently to MNU law, with the old Board of Directors dissolved and set up again with new members.
