Expatriate sexual offender caught in hiding

An expatriate on the run suspected of sexually abusing a 17 year-old girl has been caught by police hiding under construction equipment.

Police said on Wednesday that the 23 year-old Bangladesh man was arrested based on a case filed Saturday night from Faafu Atoll Nilandhoo.

The man was arrested later that night at around 2:30 hiding under construction material kept near a building under construction in an uninhabited area of the island.

Nilandhoo Magistrate Court has granted police 15 days to keep him under arrest while they investigate the case.
