Student in crisis-hit Yemen brought back to Maldives

A Maldivian student studying in Yemen – which is in the grips of civil war – has been brought back to the country.

Maldivian Foreign Ministry stated on Wednesday that the student was brought back to the country upon his own request. According to ministry, an official from Maldivian Embassy in

Saudi Arabia was sent to Oman, who then arranged for the student to be flown to Maldives from Oman.

The student arrived in Maldives on Tuesday.

War is raging in Yemen with Iran aided Houthi fighters battling forces loyal to President Abdul Mansoor Hadi.

Majority of Maldivian students studying in Yemen had been brought back to Maldives after the fight broke out with the help of Indian government.
