MDP holds

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has held a march on the main streets of Male’ today named ‘Maldivians with Commonwealth’.

Former Home Minister Hassan Afeef, former Education Minister Shifa Mohamed, several MPs of MDP, and members of the public participated in the march. They expressed their views on CMAG’s next action against Maldives, called to make the Inquiry Commission independent, and said that the ‘government has six days left’.

Similar to every other protest, they called for the resignation of President Waheed, saying that his government was formed through a ‘coup’.

The protesters started their march this afternoon at Usfasgandu, went west on Majeedee magu, onto Boduthakurufaanu magu, past MMA and local market, and stopped near Kalhuthukkala koshi and called ‘traitor’. They ended the march back at Usfasgandu at around 19:00. No confrontation took place.

A march was also held by MDP in Fuvahmulah this evening, which was attended by former President and MDP leader Mohamed Nasheed.
