Two arrested for putting acid bottle in fridge

A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of filling a bottle with acid and putting it in the fridge in a house in Laamu Maavah.

Police said that the suspects, aged 24 and 47 respectively, are accused of putting a 1.5 litre Bon Aqua bottle containing a liquid substance believed to be acid, in the fridge in an inhabited house in the island.

The woman was arrested in Fonadhoo, while the man was arrested in his home in Maavah, said police.

The bottle of acid has been seized by the police following the arrests on Saturday.

The two suspects have been remanded in custody for 15 days for the investigation, by Gan Magistrate Court.
