Minister of the President’s Office, Abdulla Ameen has resigned from the position.
Sources say that Ameen left the country after sending his letter of resignation to President Abdulla Yamin. He is currently in Sri Lanka.
After working closely with the former Chief of State, Dr. Hassan Saeed’s National Party, Ameen joined PPM during the 2013 Presidential Elections.
The former Secretary General of National Party, Ameen, was did a lot of campaigning for President Yamin.
He also filled the position of election agent for President Yamin and was awarded his position of the Minister at the President’s Office on 21 November 2013.
Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali told Sun Media tonight that the letter of resignation has to be delivered directly to the President in person and so he cannot comment on it.
Ameen is also on the team taking part in the official talks with the opposition MDP.
Ameen has a corruption charge pending at the Prosecutor General’s Office for over seven months.
The case against him is forgiving a fine claiming it was on behalf of the President after the company charged with completing the Thimarafushi airport fined since they failed to do so in the given time period.
Regarding the case, Ameen said that he would face any allegations against him with confidence. And that he won’t back down from bad influences trying to destroy his reputation.
