Prostitution at Fuvahmulah: Another male and a female suspect arrested

A female suspect and another man have been arrested in relation to the child prostitution case in Fuvahmulah.

Police Media Official told Sun Media tonight that an arrest was made this evening and another at dusk.

The two people arrested today were a 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman. Police confirmed another arrest of a male suspect in the case earlier today.

The Police Media Official said that the remand of the last three suspects arrest has also been extended. He said that the remand of the female suspect was extended by ten days while the two men had their remand extended by 15 days.

The Official said that there has been 13 arrests so far in the child prostitution case in Fuvahmulah.

The court has extended the remand of the first ten men arrested by 15 days.

Speaking at the Police press conference today, the Head Chief of the Crime Investigation Command, Superintendent Hamdhoon Rasheed neither of the girls involved in the case are pregnant.

Police arrested a 19-year-old, two 21-year-old, three 22-year-old, a 32-year-old, a 41-year-old, a 50-year-old and a 55-year-old man in Fuvahmulah last night.

Sources say that it has been going on for over a month. It is suspected that the prostitution ring is being run by the businessmen. These acts take place at a guesthouse on “Miskiy Magu” (Mosque Road); different people going on different nights.

The ten people initially arrested initially were arrested with a court order. It is likely they were found via the CCTV at the guesthouse.

Superintendent Hamdhoon said that while ten people were arrested on Friday night, another was arrested earlier today. And the Police are looking for others believed to be involved based on the evidence found at some the places they searched.
