Prostitution at Fuvahmulah: None of the girls are pregnant, another man has been arrested

Police has said that neither the 14-year-old nor the 16-year-old girl involved in the Fuvahmulah prostitution case is pregnant and there has been another arrest today in the case.

Responding to a question from Sun Media at the Police press conference about the prostitution case in Gn. Fuvahmulah, the Head Chief of the Crime Investigation Command, Superintendent Hamdhoon Rasheed said that looking at the investigation of the victims, neither of the girls involved in the case are pregnant.

While ten people were arrested in Gn. Fuvahmulah for running a prostitution ring with two underage girls and blackmailing them last Friday, Police said that another arrest was made in the case today. And the Police are looking for others believed to be involved based on the evidence found at some the places they searched.

“The places that need to be searched and arrests that have to be made in the case are ongoing as I give this interview.” Superintendent Hamdhoon said.

He said that the people arrested so far are 20 – 55 local males. Out of which, five people have records for assault with a sharp object, theft and indecent behavior.

Sources say that it has been going on for over a month. It is suspected that the prostitution ring is being run by the businessmen. These acts take place at a guesthouse on “Miskiy Magu” (Mosque Road); different people going on different nights.

Superintendent Hamdhoon said that the case was reported on 5 July and the investigation began at the Fuvahmulah Police Station and when it was found to be serious, a team from Malé went to Fuvahmulah and investigated further.
