Bids open at Ungoofaaru to build an 80 room City Hotel

R. Ungoofaaru has opened for bids to build a City Hotel of 80 rooms.

Talking to Sun Media, the President of the Ungoofaaru Council, Abdul-Naseer Ali said that a land of 120,000 square feet has been allocated to build the City Hotel on the South East side of the island.

“We have acquired all the necessary permits for the project from the government as well.” Council President Abdul-Naseer said.

The Council President said that he believes that the presence of a City Hotel would jobs would be created in the island and developments would take place at the island.

“The fruits and vegetables grown in the island may be used by the hotel owners. And part of the fishes from the island’s fishermen may also go there.” Abdul-Naseer said.

The Council President said that there are some things that have to be done by those who are running the hotel as well which includes relocating the fuel station run by the council and build two sheds and building a ferry terminal at the island. And the more social projects for the island would increase the points received in bid evaluation, says the Council President Abdul-Naseer.

The price of the bid book is MVR 1500.
