Parliament sessions cancelled

The sessions of the Parliament has been cancelled indefinitely.

The cancellation was notified to all the MPs by the President of the Parliament via text massage.

The message sent to the MPs from the Table Office of the Parliament says that the resuming date would be notified at a later date.

In the text message, the President of the Parliament also sent the Eid greetings as well. The message did not say as to why the sessions were cancelled.

The Parliament sessions has got cancelled when the ruling party is preparing to take a vote of no confidence against the Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed.

The notification of the No Confidence Motion was sent to the Vice President Dr. Jameel on 30 June. According to Article 100-D of the Constitution, before the debate of such a case start at the Parliament, the Vice President has to be given a 14-day notice.
