Famous businessmen among the prostitution arrests: Been going on for a long time

Two of the most famous businessmen in Fuvahmulah were among the ten people arrested in relation to child prostitution case involving two underage girls in the island. The rest were people in gangs.

While they were arrested last night, Sources say that it has been going on for over a month. It is suspected that the prostitution ring is being run by the businessmen. These acts take place at a guesthouse on “Miskiy Magu” (Mosque Road); different people going on different nights.

The ten people arrested last night were brought into Police custody with a court order. It is likely they were found via the CCTV at the guesthouse.

Sources say that the two girls who were involved in the prostitution were 14 and 16 years of age from Hoadhandu and Dhiguvaandu areas. It is said that the two girls were paid to take part in illicit behavior with several people on multiple occasion.

“One of those girls comes from a poor family. She doesn’t even go to school; she just roams around the island.” A man speaking from the island said.

Other sources say that the girls were blackmailed after giving drugs, taking pictures and videos of them by a large group of people.
