A major part of Malé has been hit by power outage following engine failures at the State Electric Company (STELCO).

Spokesperson Ibrahim Raoof told Sun Online that the engine failures occurred at 9:25 a.m. today.

Affected areas include major parts of Maafannu and Mahchangolhi.

Raoof said that power will be restored in about 20 minutes.
